People that read my previous post know I recently recovered my mountain bike that was stolen from my garage on Sunday. What I didn’t mention is that I had my commuter bike stolen back in January. After a couple months of searching, I eventually gave up and accepted I was never going to get my trek back. But after having recent luck recovering my MTN bike, I decided to do a quick online search for my trek and THERE IT WAS. The seller was a reputable person who bought the bike at a swap meet. (bike flipping is common). I’d like to thank @tempepolice and the detectives I worked with in recovering my bike. I’m beyond ecstatic that after four months, I’ve been reunited with my baby. Seriously, this bike has been everywhere with me and I was heartbroken when it was gone. On that note, please help the bicycle community out by doing a few simple things. 1. Register your bike with local police department. That way they can track ownership If you get yours stolen 2. If purchasing used, type in the serial number into a bikeindex.org or some other registry to make sure it’s not stolen 3. If you see something suspicious (homeless person on a $2000 specialized, put out a post on the local Fb bike group of model, location, and time Oh man, this has been a great week. Thank the gods

I had my mountain bike stolen out of my garage today. It felt so defeating. I was really bummed. My trek was stolen from my patio a few months back and now my cannondale? What kind of luck is this? Stolen in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon (I left my garage door open for a few minutes and came back to it being gone). Anyways, I am extremely grateful that I found the scumbag that took that bike earlier this evening. He was caught like a deer in headlights. I’m not typically a confrontational person, but oh man. I was livid. It felt so satisfying to find my bike and take it back. Moral of the story: Theft is a crime of oppurtunity. While you can’t guarantee things won’t get stolen, taking proper precautions can certainly help reduce the risk. Don’t make my mistake of forgetting to close the garage door. Otherwise, your 💲 on wheels can disappear in less than 60 seconds. I’m just happy to have my baby back 💖

Today is a special day! While it is April 1, no joke here. I now have an advisor for my thesis! Additionally, I’ll be joining the VISA research lab at ASU. (Virtualized Infrastructure, Systems, and Applications). I will be focusing my research on cloud computing. Specifically at the edge. (think internet of things, localized computing, or smart grid). Crazy I’m nearly halfway done with my masters, but the craziness has only begun! Let’s hope I manage to push through 😅 Go sundevils!
